We are Back!

We are Back!

We are back.

I am back and it’s been a long time coming, I found myself busy with all kinds of projects from working on a book to non-profit work. I have not forgotten my website here and have planned to come back to and I am committing myself to it completely.

I will be writing about all kinds of things, from personal stories to professional life. From fashion tips to hobbies and building/fixing things. I will even give my two cents on certain topics that anyone wants to hear, my vision for this website is sort of like a Marley and Me type theme. Where it’ll all be nice light and uplifting posts and stories, to even sad moments in life. That’s what life is, it is full of moments from sad to happy to unforgettable; I want this website to be a place where people can in a sense escape the world for a few minutes and relate to things in life.

My plan and schedule for posting new content will be every Wednesday and if things are going good and people are liking the content I will add posting content on Friday or Monday, time will tell. I hope you all stick around or are ready to join in on this adventure

An Interesting question.

During a meeting last week, an interesting question arose. I was asked why are people in my generation entitled? Now I know there’s been a lot of talk about some people being snow flakes, some people living in their mom and dad’s basement because they aren’t prepared for the real world. I am not here to harp and or repeat that, when I was asked this question I took a moment to really think about my answer.

My answer was “I don’t know, I don’t understand it either.” I grew up in a humble way, I have zero problem doing what I have to do in order to do what I want in the future. I don’t feel entitled be any means, I want to earn anything and everything in this life of mine. Is it not better when you earn it?

Like I’ve stated before, its about paying your dews. I grew up being told you will pay your dews with hard work and one day you will be granted something better. Other people missed or did not receive this tidbit of wisdom when they were younger. Really that the best answer I have when it comes to this question, not everyone within my generation is selfish and entitled. Sometimes one just needs to look a little harder and you’ll see a hard working millennial paying their dews, waiting for a chance to shine.

Paying Due

There is an old adage about how we all must pay our dues, its a part of life and is expected for the majority of people. In this sense, paying your dues is doing something that you aren’t fond of. Whether it’s taking a job at the bottom of a company, or having to work third shift in order to move up to first shift later on.

There is another form of paying dues and that is doing everything the right way and not receiving notice for it, you work hard in everything that you do and yet everyone around you catches breaks and dream jobs while you remain in limbo. I understand this form of paying dues all to well, I’ve known many people who were just handed great jobs without having to go to a university.

It is hard to watch people get handed things in life at times, but have hope. Continue to work hard, finish school and one day someday you will get a dream job. It is how I continue each and every day, I have yet to receive any breaks but I still have hope that someday it’ll happen for me as well.

Getting Certified.

Getting Certified.

When it comes to being a SEO specialist, there is one thing that a person can do to separate themselves from the pack. That is getting Google certified in either Google AdWords or Google Analytics or both, but let me warn you if you think it’ll be a breeze you are in for a world of hurt.

In order to pass you need to get a minimum of 80% of the questions correct, the Google Analytics test is 70 questions while the AdWords is 100. Here is the shocker, if you do not pass you have to wait 7 days before being able to retake the test. The Brightside of this whole thing is that both tests are completely free, all that is required is your time.

I recommend taking the time to study, watch the training videos, take notes and study as much as possible. Doing a test like this online seems easy and straight forward, but most people once they hit the 20 or 30 question mark become antsy. They become impatience and start clicking answers quicker so to hurry the test up and be done, this is normal so don’t be alarmed it happened to me more then I would like to admit. But take the time to study and you will pass, shoot for the 100% instead of the 80%. I will admit I just wanted to pass but after failing for my sixth time I finally buckled down and said “I’m getting 100% my next time” I chose to take the Google Analytics exam over the AdWords, I found it more interesting and wanted to learn more. Below is a picture of what it looks like to get 100% on the analytics exam.

it is not easy. I used notes, practice tests, watched and re-watched all the training videos (not going to lie some are slow and boring) but in the end it was worth to get that score. Now some people are better at test taking then others, there is no shame in that and they will pass this easy peasy. But for those who struggle with tests, especially ones taken on computers this is for you in the sense of never quit; if I can do it so can you.

Why get these certificates? because as a SEO specialist they benefit you not just in your personal life and brand but in your professional life as well. Being able to show to future employers and other professionals that you posses the certificates will go a long way, people tend to think that they are a waste of time. But this is a false belief, I know plenty of people who have gotten farther in life and have larger incomes because of certificates compared to others with bachelor degrees.

Social Management

Let’s be honest for a moment, sometimes we forget things. What I mean by this is that there is a lot of social media out there, sometimes it is hard to tweet everything when you want to or make a post about something quickly. Life is busy, but there is a small hack if you will that will help you get certain tweets out when you want. There are platforms out there like Hootsuite or the Tweetdeck  I like the Tweetdeck just because I like the layout and flow of it.

With either platform, you can schedule your tweets to whenever you want from early morning to late at night. Check out my schedule tweets below using Tweetdeck, I scheduled five but you may only see four and a quarter of the fifth. They are all to the right corner.

It is pretty simple to use, and can keep you on top of things and keeps you tweeting even when you are busy.
